"That's what you get for being beautiful." Jack Nicholson said in passing as she politely stepped away from a young man eager to get her phone number... and so begins her life in Los Angeles, away from the cold winters of Minnesota. Playful, stoic, ethereal and wise... begins to describe the aloof yet grounded Kate Clarke. A sultry, raven beauty with soulful ever changing blue-green eyes... a poet, painter and actor in love with falling into that other world of dreams where one can be a dark, mysterious girl on the run in Playground Girls to the funny, eccentric woman in 20/20 Vision to a young woman facing her own terminal illness and death in Grace.
Kate began her acting career in the IFC film, 20/20 Vision starring with Jesse Ventura, followed by the Sundance film Los Enchiladas! directed by Mitch Hedberg. Kate's wide acting range has her playing everything from sultry vixen to doctor to young mom to superhero.
Her most recent work includes the character driven feature Grace where she plays the lead young woman facing her own terminal illness and death. Also coming up, you'll see her in the comedy feature, Miss Cast Away, directed by Bryan Michael Stoller, where she plays Miss Iowa along with an eclectic cast including Jerry Lewis, Michael Jackson and Eric Roberts. Kate will also be coming to BBC in The Hedy Lamarr Story. Her work in the feature Playground Girls, won her the "Best Actress" Award at the Showdance Film Festival with TNT writing: "Kate Clarke has charisma and presence and stands above this film with fire and originality."
Kate is also a painter, with her work most recently shown at the I-5 Gallery in downtown Los Angeles, as well as a published poet.
